¡Bienvenidos!

On this website you will find a collection of works completed by myself during my time at Clemson University, as well as a list of courses and what I have learned from the Latinx community during my studies. I hope that this information will provide qualifications for job opportunities in my field. Welcome to my site!

About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew Benson! I studied at Clemson University with a degree in modern languages with an emphasis in Spanish and a second specialization in sign language. I am from a small town in the state of South Carolina with a large population of Spanish speakers. During my time in my hometown I had many opportunities to learn and interact with the Latino community in the area. When I went to Clemson I had the same opportunities to interact with the Latino community and volunteer for community events with Clemson University and Hispanic Alliance at the education center in Greenville, South Carolina. I believe that my involvement with  the Latino community and my experience gained in college gave me many different skills, such as understanding and cultural knowledge, the ability to identify with others, and the ability to connect with others. My professional goal is to work as an interpreter, integrating my knowledge of both languages to work with patients in the medical field. My professional goal is to work as an interpreter, integrating my knowledge of both languages to work with patients in the medical field. I was inspired to become an interpreter by interactions with my local Spanish-speaking community, where I heard many stories from friends about their family members who have difficulty communicating with their doctors. I would like to be able to help persons who cannot communicate in English for themselves.
