Art
For me, art has always been a method of relaxation and a medium to release any emotions that i feel are not easily expressed through words. An unintended benefit of this is being able to share these works of art and connect with others regardless of background, religion, culture, or any other factors that may originally separate peoples. I feel that making art is a method of discovery and something that should be shared, as it helps to bring people together, define a cultural movement, or simply allow someone to express themselves.

Volunteering and Service Work
Throughout my four and a half years in college, I have volunteered for multiple community events and participated in service work. The majority of my volunteering has been for the local Latinx community, with celebrations for Día de los Muertos, job and college fairs, Latinx heritage events, and healthcare outreach. Throughout these service opportunities I have found a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment, as I feel happy knowing that I am helping others and providing new opportunities for a community I can both learn from, and find ways to connect with on a level I have never experienced from my own community. I also value the skills that I have learned from my volunteering, such as problem solving under pressure, interpersonal connections, and cultural competence and comprehension.
